Hello! My name is Maria K. I have been in childcare for 6 years, working with ages 6 weeks to 5 years. I have recently become certified as a postpartum doula as well. I have a two year old son named Waylon that always keeps me on the move and is a big socializer. We recently moved to the Drums, PA area and we are hoping to make new friends and do what we love most, playing with friends and socializing as much as possible. My hope is to bring my son along with me to play with your littles or at least keep them entertained! Before we moved to PA, we lived in NC, where I was a Lead Teacher at The Goddard School in the one to two year old classroom. While I loved getting to spend time with 10 little ones at once, I learned that I really find it to be more beneficial for children to have a more personal, 1 on 1 type of relationship with their caregivers rather than having a caregiverβs attention split on 9 other children. My philosophy is that children learn through play and that a child needs to feel a sense of independence during their play in order to learn best. Caregivers should always show that they are readily available for help when a child shows signs of needing help or communicates that they need help. Caregivers should also provide a safe and supportive environment so that children feel comfortable and confident during their play/learning time. I vow to always keep your childβs best interest first as I get to spend time with them!
