Hi, my name is Frances and I just finished my degree in architecture the University of Virginia this May. While I am new to Wyndy, I have been babysitting for over 7 years. When I am home from school, I regularly babysit my neighbors (ranging from 2 to 9 in age). In high school, I was a volunteer at the Botanical Gardens Summer Camps and Childrenβs Hospital. This gave me experience entertaining large groups of children and navigating kids outside of the home environment. I was also a nanny for a summer. My job involved picking up the children (3 and 5) from daycare, bathing them, making them a snack, and entertaining them until their parents returned from work. This job gave me an understanding of how to maintain a routine for little kids after a long day at school. Outside of babysitting, I was a waitress at Vino, have interned at various Architecture firms for the past 4 summers, and worked as a museum assistant for our campus museum.

Well, a little bit about me is that I was born in North Carolina, but raised in Newport News, Virginia. There I spent my years learning, volunteering, processing and developing the skills that would prepare me for college. Off on my own, I decided to go with Mary Baldwin College as they gave me the most money, and while there I had the opportunity to major in one of my two passions, Music or Business. Being that I spend all of my free time in the arts, I decided to pursue Music in hopes that I would still get the opportunity to take classes, or go to workshop speeches or sessions to keep me in the realm of Business Administration but unfortunately due to the colliding schedules, that never happened. My work experience via customer care comes through in all aspects of any job that I have previously had, whether it be handling the customers problems directly, or finding a solution with them in person physically, or through my past call center experience, virtually. In my past experiences the skills needed in both aspects were to intuitively understand where the other person was coming from and let them know that I both prioritized their issues, and swiftly communicated empathy all while finding the proper solutions. I have worked as a Team Lead, and Director of Music during my undergraduate so I have experience being responsible for finances in terms of keeping track of the money we fundraised, and how it was spent, when it was spent and where; so if ever I need to handle monies to take a trip to the grocery store I am able to do so. My experience with kids comes from taking care of my cousin who has Down Syndrome disorder, and also working with kids to learn period dance, or historical dance in an after school program during my undergraduate. The kids would come to the studio on campus after school, and myself and a handful of other students would take the children in groups of 3-5 to teach them the final ball dance hosted by the elementary school and Mary Baldwin campus combined.Other experience I have working with children is being around my cousins, who are younger than I am. I would watch them during their bottle feeding days home from the hospital to growing into their personalities in their beautiful youth and playing sports in their different age ranges of 5, 8, 10, and 13. Why do I want to work with kids now? I want to because it will allow me more time to pursue Music and I love kids! Children know more than we think sometimes and they like to explore the world through different hobbies and experiences so everything to them is new, and the creative side of me is always entertained and encouraged to be like them in the sense of trying new things outside of my work in my free time. Sometimes as adults we get so stagnant. Currently, I am in the process of enrolling as a Graduate student at Berklee University Online to complete my Masterβs of Arts in Interdisciplinary Music Studies. Before making this decision to go back and continue my education, I wanted to gain more long term knowledge about Business Administration, and get that hands-on training, so about two weeks ago I packed up and moved all I own out here to Washington, D.C..
