Hi! My name is Savannah and I attend UAB. I am studying to be an Elementary school teacher. I have been babysitting for over 6 years. I began with a neighbor and their first child who is now in kindergarten. Over the last 4 years, her parents have entrusted her two younger siblings, now 4 and almost 1, in my care as young as two weeks old. I have grown to love working with children and have great pride in celebrating milestones (like first steps and words, birthdays, and starting Kindergarten) with them and their families. I have been told on many occasions, “You are the best babysitter I’ve ever had.” Not only have I been told this by the children I am caring for, but also their parents. I have been able to diversify my experiences by networking with friends, family, and my church. While working after-school programs and summer camps, I have gained additional experience working with special needs (Autism and ADD/ADHD) children who require individual attention and smaller groups. I have also been responsible for as many as 20 children during after-school care and summer programs. When I babysit I always make sure the kids are safe and having fun, and to ensure the parents to have confidence that their children are well taken care of and their home is too!
